Vanavond om 21.30 uur kunt u gaan genieten van de eerste in de serie afleveringen van het nieuwe seizoen van het Engelse programma "Who Do You Think You Are".
U zult vandaag Sarah Jessica Parker in de hoofdrol vinden uit de Amerikaanse uitvoering van de Engelse serie!
For the Sex and the City star, a case of mistaken identity and a possible connection to some of the most shocking trials in American history lie in wait as she explores her family tree...
Sarah Jessica Parker was born in the mid-western state of Ohio in 1965. Her parents are both Jewish and, were it not for a mistake made when Parker’s great grandfather arrived in New York, her surname would have been Bar-Kahn. The immigration officer misheard his name as 'Parken’, which later became further misunderstood as ‘Parker’.
SJP’s career was mapped out from a young age: she trained in singing and ballet before appearing in numerous stage productions from the age of 19, including the musicals Footloose and Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. Her acting career continued to flourish, and the 1990s saw her appear alongside Hollywood legends including Nicolas Cage, Bruce Willis and Johnny Depp.
It was her role as New York newspaper columnist and fashionista Carrie Bradshaw in the long-running series Sex and the City that transformed SJP into a household name. The show is still enormously popular, and a sequel to the 2008 movie is planned for release later this year.
Although her character's search for Mr Big may be on hold for the time being, SJP has been focusing her energies on searching for her own family roots. And, in June last year, the actress welcomed two surrogate twins, Tabitha Hodge and Marion Loretta Elwell, into her family. Both Hodge and Elwell are surnames from SJP's family history – what she uncovers takes her to the most shocking trials of 17th-cenury America...
